Kristina Korte has an extensive background in administration, business management, legal, investor/public relations, marketing and event planning in the business and entertainment arenas. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and brings over 25 years of work experience with leading companies, such as Corporate Communications, Inc. (CCI), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Eddie George's Sports Grille, Hilton Worldwide, Sporthill Marketing, and ESPN. She is a Six Sigma certified yellow belt and is excellent at project execution, process analysis, writing, management, and problem solving.
Growing up, Kristina extensively traveled throughout the U.S. and lived in 10 different cities from San Diego, California to Washington, D.C. As a former military brat, she was raised in a family where entertaining was the norm. Her mother was very creative in her culinary and event planning skills and was a great mentor to Kristina and her sister Cathy in the areas of event design, decor, planning & logistics, and food preparation. Her parents hosted elaborate parties for Generals, Colonels, and many other top-ranking military officials during her father's 30-year Army medical career. One of Kristina's fondest memories was a party her parents hosted when her father was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado where they recreated a mesh tent scene from the television show M*A*S*H and shot a live rooster out of a cannon to the Overture of 1812, which landed on the General's wife. The ending couldn't have been scripted more perfectly and that party is still talked about today!
During Kristina's high school years, she lived in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C., which exposed her to many different cultures and broadened her appreciation for a variety of culinary preferences. After high school, Kristina attended Averett University in Danville, Virginia her freshman year but decided to return home to attend Katherine Gibbs Business School, where she received a Diploma in Information Processing. In 1986 she landed her first professional job with a lobbying group in Washington, D.C as an Executive Assistant/Meeting Planner. It was during her 11 ½ years at the AICPA that Kristina perfected her logistical skills and developed her passion for event planning. It was also during this time that she began to develop her technical writing skills and style. As a member of the AICPA's Communications Team, she traveled regularly to New York City to attend meetings at the AICPA's corporate headquarters in Rockefeller Center and was responsible for writing and producing internal communication pieces to help keep employees informed and "in the know" on corporate details and events. While working for the AICPA, Kristina also worked part-time for Barbara Robertson Catering, a wedding planning and catering company that produced weddings in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland areas. It was during her time at the company that Kristina perfected her skills in wedding and event planning and gained a true respect and love for the art.
In 1997, Kristina had a longing for warmer weather and moved south to Atlanta, Georgia and became a Legal Assistant to one of the top environmental attorneys in the country where she gained extensive experience and knowledge in the legal profession. She also worked part-time for Sporthill Marketing, a sports marketing firm that managed guest services and event planning for ESPN's NASCAR races and Great Outdoor Games. Kristina's main responsibilities were to manage the needs of ESPN's producers, top executives, corporate sweepstake winners, and guests while also managing all aspects of the ESPN VIP Suites. This job was a "dream job" for Kristina as it enabled her to travel and utilize her various work experiences while working in the arenas of sports and entertainment, which are two of her passions.
In 1999, Kristina decided to follow her dreams and moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the hopes of one day working in the music industry and finishing her college degree. She was accepted at Belmont University and took a temporary position working for the Country Music Association (CMA), while also continuing to work for Sporthill Marketing. She worked for the CMA for a short period of time and then received a job offer working for Corporate Communications, Inc. It was while working for a brilliant mentor and industry leader, Burton Rice, that Kristina learned a great deal about the multiple components of corporate communications, the intricacies of investor and public relations, and perfected her writing skills through writing press releases and corporate documents, which helped make her writing skills one of her strongest assets. While working for CCI, Kristina also worked part-time for the Hilton Hotel and Eddie George's Sports Grille as a Hostess where she assisted the NFL players' PR reps. with celebrity fundraisers and silent auctions (i.e., NFL Mothers' Foundation; Eddie George's Visions with Infinite Possibilities; Celebrity Bartender Nights; Samari Rolle's Rolle With Me Foundation). She was also responsible for welcoming and seating guests, managed the flow of the restaurant, supported the management team and supervised the wait staff, assisted the executive chefs and kitchen staff in food and event preparations, closely interacted with current and former, high-profile NFL sports figures and coaches, radio & TV personalities, political figures and Vanderbilt coaches and athletes to ensure all their needs were met, monitored and hosted the VIP Room, and co-managed crowd control and security of NFL athletes and their families with Hilton's security staff. Needless to say, Kristina was in her element and loved her job.
In 2005, Kristina stepped down from her hostess position at Eddie George's Sports Grille at the Hilton and returned to college at The University of Phoenix to achieve her personal goal of completing her college degree while continuing to work full time at CCI. In September of 2008, she finally reached her goal and completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Management and also fulfilled a promise she made to her boss who passed away in 2003, which was to return to school one day and complete her college degree. Kristina gives a great deal of credit to him for being where she is today -- personally and professionally. She also credits her parents for instilling in her a strong work ethic, sound principles, her love of giving back to the community through volunteer work, and the ability to do whatever it takes to get the job done in any situation. Kristina's extensive business background and event planning skills enable her to bring many positive and sound elements to the table for LTSEvents.
